This summer's project

My birthday gift to myself this summer was supposed to be a pop-up tent.  Unfortunately, as we scoured through the ethernet for aforementioned camping luxury, we realized that we were way under budget and that maybe a used two man inflatable raft might be more on par with our pocket books.

Nevertheless, during our search, we stumbled onto the great wide world of the tear-drop trailer.  I gauked and hawed (no hemming though, thats just weird) as I read through the history of this great tiny-juggernaut of camping history.  I mowed through 100's and 100's (or at least 10's and 10's) of free plans online....some where new plans, others were photocopies from 1940's and 50's magazines, before finally ordering plans online and flying my father-in-law in specially for the creative consulting of this project.

We already had a utility trailer 4' by 8' long that we used to haul things like compost and big, big rocks, and so the question I posed to myself, quite naturally, was "how can I turn this into something that will hold a dog, 2 kids, 2 adults, 1 slingshot, and a cooler big enough to hold a 6 pack?".

Well it was not easy my bloggel friends but we did it!  (Without giving away all our architextural genius, I can tell you the key ingredient to this trailer's success lies in two words........"banana hammock"--go ahead and google image it, I dare you.)
