The idea started when Lovejoy Bakery commissioned me to paint pictures of their bread and pastries for a new storefront they opened on Division st. From there, I hung the commissioned paintings, along with some others I painted just for the show, at the original Lovejoy Bakery. The show was mainly intended to be a "kickoff" event for the website and new business...and it went well, almost every painting sold.
The idea of being a food painter came to me when I looked around and noticed how much untapped potential there was in creating fine art out of food in this "foody" city. Many artisans of food feel they are offering unique ideas and presentations of the gastrointestinal kind, and what would be better than offering them a way to immortalize their work on canvas?....Plus, there is alot of money floating around in the food service world and not so much in the art collecting world...that alone is testament in itself;)
